The Ghana national FIFAe team, the Black Comets, picked up their first victory at the 2022 FIFAe Middle East and Africa (MENA) Qualifiers yesterday May 20.
The Comets kicked off the online tournament in the worst way securing a single point from two games following a 2-2 draw against Palestine and a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Lebanon.
However, as the Ghanaian pairing of GFA eTrophy champion Prince Jonas and the highly-rated Frank “Wondhakid” Kpakpo continued their growth in the competition they would secure their’s and Ghana’s first-ever victory in the FIFAe Nation Series thrashing continental rivals South Africa 3-0.
The Comets would however succumb to a slim 2-1 defeat to Oman securing 4 points in the first round of the Group Stage.
The second round of the Group Stage of the FIFAe MENA Qualifiers continues today May 21 as the Black Comets replay all their opponents from yesterday to secure a spot in the Quarter Finals.
