The Esports Association, Ghana (EAG) General Secretary, Doreen Dabi-Diamond, is one of the numerous industry experts set to speak at tomorrow’s October 11 Power of a Girl Conference set to be held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

The event, which is organised by the Power to Girls Foundation Ghana, is under the theme “Girl Force: Unscripted and Unstoppable” and is set to bring together 1000 girls between the ages of 15 and 20 from Ghana’s junior and senior high schools to engage them in educational sessions and panel discussions while also introducing them to mentors who come from a variety of sectors and experiences.

Dabi-Diamond brings with her a wealth of experience in the Ghanaian esports space, having been the first-ever female team coach in Ghana and having been named the coach for the Eze Gaming Hub esports team during the 2021 GGC Golden Hour tournament.

She was also the only female competitor among 16 male competitors during the maiden edition of the Volta FIFA 20 Championship held in the Volta Region last year. This, and many other incredible qualities, led to her appointment as the EAG’s General Secretary back in March of this year.

The Power to Girls Foundation Ghana offers leadership, personal development, and mentorship programmes for girls in West Africa, Ghana. According to the organisation, this is “one of the most effective ways to create a global shift at the grassroots level” and will “give them the confidence and the boldness to raise their voices and to eliminate the culture of silence that often plagues their communities.”

The organisation, whose headquarters are located in Toronto, Canada, supports and empowers black and marginalised girls with programming and support in personal development, mentorship, mental health and wellness.
