The year of esports is off to great start with many tournaments already lined up. The most recent is the return of e-ligue tour, which kicks off this month. The e-ligue tour is a hybrid event, where gamers in selected regions and countries will play online qualifiers for a chance to be in France for the grand finale.
The tour in Africa will kick-off with LAN qualifiers, winners in each country will play in the finals in France in April and have a chance to win from the 10,000 Euro prize pool.
Launched in January 2021, over 3,000 different participants competed in the qualification phase of the tournament across the six countries, according to LFP.
Mathieu Ficot, Deputy CEO of LFP during the previous event mentioned that “The eLigue 1 Tour completes the international development strategy of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats, one of the priorities of the LFP and its clubs,”
“With this amateur esport competition on EASPORTS FIFA 21, we want to reach out to a maximum number of fans abroad and increase the awareness of Ligue 1 Uber Eats in an innovative way, by adapting to new consumption patterns.”
Ligue de Football Professional, the organisers of the project, relied on esports marketing agency Freaks 4U Gaming to take charge of the overall management of the competition, as well as being involved in the event’s operations, regulations, communication and production.
Samy Ouerfelli, Head of New Business at Freaks 4U Gaming added: “By accompanying the LFP on the eLigue 1 Tour, Freaks 4U Gaming is contributing its know-how in piloting international products, enabling sports players to help them in their desire to diversify digitally to a new audience.”
Winners from each region will be paired against winners of season one, in a group and finals format to determine the overall champion.
