South African esports athlete, Jabhi “JabhiM” Mabuza has booked his ticket to next year’s Capcom Cup IX after claiming victory at the 2022 Capcom Pro Tour: South Africa, which ran from August 27 to August 28.

Jabhi, who plays for South African esports giants, Goliath Gaming, emerged victorious in an intense competition which featured 44 of the continent’s best Street Fighter gamers, suffering only a single defeat to Bravado Gaming‘s Billy “BillyDate” Mulaudzi.

This defeat would come in the Winners Bracket Finals, in which BillyDate would completely dominate his opponent, defeating the Goliath Gaming gamer 3-0. Jabhi would advance to the Losers Bracket Finals to face off against Illusion Gaming‘s Arehone “Vinpetrolium” Vincent, beating him 3-2 to advance to the Grand Finals and a rematch against BillyDate.

The Grand Finals would see Jabhi use his favourite character, Karin, while BillyDate would use his favourite Ed, as the two gamers battled to a first-to-three bout, with JabhiM taking the first two games of the fight, with BillyDate coming back strong in the third bout. However, it was not to be as JabhiM would take the fourth bout and the ticket to next year’s Capcom Cup IX.
