The inaugural round of the African Call of Duty League (ACDL) began on November 5, with eight of the continent’s best Call of Duty (COD) teams competing for a $500 prize pool.
The ACDL is Africa‘s first Call of Duty League, with eight of the continent’s best teams competing in a 4v4 double elimination battle on several maps and modes every weekend in November to become the ultimate Call of Duty African champion.
The competition opened with the first-ever inconclusive result, with Ugandan esports organisation Arudem Gaming tying 1-1 with Nemesis. After defeating Tonka 2-1 in Game 2, Ghanaian esports giants, PlayProvince advanced to Round 2. Skids defeated Swerv Only 2-0 in Game 3 to advance to the competition’s second round. Yollo ZA would be eliminated in the loser bracket after falling to Skare 2-0.
Because the tournament is a double-elimination event, the defeated teams will advance to the ACDL Losers Bracket, which means Tonka, Swerv Only, and Yollo ZA are still in contention to become the competition’s first-ever champion.
