MOUNT KENYA UNIVERSITY AND ESPORTS KENYA PARTNER TO ESTABLISH

FIRST ESPORTS TRAINING CENTRE

Esports Kenya Federation is pleased to announce that we have entered into a collaboration

with Mount Kenya University (MKU) to set up Kenya and sub-sahara Africa’s first esports

training center at Mount Kenya University main campus in Thika Town.

In the partnership, Mount Kenya University shall provide space, operational support and

academic integration while the federation shall provide equipment, technical support and

training.

The 154m2 center will equip the students and youth in the community with skills to enable

them to become professional esports players, coaches, referees alongside training on

transferable skills involved in esports like streaming, content creation, and game

development.

“To our GenZ who are active in esports, I am delighted to announce that MKU in

collaboration with Esports Kenya Federation will establish an esports training center. It will

equip our students with skills that will enable them to generate an income and even make a

career via their hobby”, said MKU Chairman Prof. Gicharu, while making the

announcement at the institution’s 25th graduation ceremony held earlier this morning.

“We appreciate MKU for this kind gesture. It gives us an opportunity to grow esports in

Kenya. Having an esteemed university on board is also a huge boost to our efforts of

growing the awareness of esports as educational institutions command huge respect in the

community. A special thanks to the university for also allowing the facility to be accessed by

the general public,” said Esports Kenya President, Ronny Lusigi.

More details of the center will be released in due course.
