Ghanaian esports organisations PlayProvince and Ruutz Esports have qualified for the Grand Finals of the FIFA 22 Ultimate Pro Gaming (UPG) Tournament after dominating the Western Regional Qualifiers of the event that were held from September 30 to October 1 at the Game It Up! Hub inside the Takoradi Mall.
The two teams made up of Kennedy, Cobs, and Max (Ruutz Esports) and BigUps, Prettyboy Dells, and Mbbape (PlayProvince) got past Samurais Esports and Originals Esports to secure the region’s two spots for the Grand Finals to be held in December 2022.
After dominating their opponents, Ruutz Esports would face off against PlayProvince in the Western Regional Qualifier Grand Finals to decide the region’s champion.
The match would kick off with PlayProvince’s Prettyboy Dells facing off against Ruutz Esports’ Cobs, with both gamers unable to gain an advantage for their team as they both secured a victory and a draw in their match.
The second game would, however, see PlayProvince take a slim advantage into the final match as Mabbpe would tie his first two games with Ruutz Esports’ Kennedy, but the PlayProvince star would thrash his opponent 4-0 in their final game to secure a slim lead for his team.
BigUps of PlayProvince would face off against Ruutz Esports’ Max to decide the region’s champion. The Ruutz Esports star tied up the contest in match one, defeating BigUps 2-1, but the PlayProvince man would come back stronger in the remaining matches, defeating Max 2-1 in both games to claim gold for his team.
Next on the FIFA 22 UPG Tournament calendar are the competition’s final qualifiers, the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers, which are set to kick off on October 28 at the Game It Up! Hub inside the Kumasi City Mall.
