Game developer Riot Games has unveiled details for its latest season of Rising Legends, the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) esports circuit for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
The upcoming season contains a range of changes based on player feedback, in addition to a €50,000 (~£42,699) prize pool.
Beginning in June and concluding in October, tech company GGTech Entertainment will operate the TFT Rising Legends Dragonlands Circuit. It will feature Golden Spatula Cups (GSC), with the winner of each cup securing qualification for the Rising Legends Finals.
GGTech is no stranger to tournament operation. In February 2020, it partnered with Amazon to launch Amazon University Esports.
In addition, TFT Regional Competitions (TRC) will act as qualifiers for the Superbrawl event which is increasing its player pool from 16 to 24. The top three players from the Superbrawl will qualify for the Finals, a three-day tournament that will determine the Rising Legends champion.
Max Wischow, Product Lead for EMEA TFT Esports, spoke on the revised format: “I am super excited to bring our EMEA TFT Esports Rising Legends Tournament Circuit into the Dragonlands.”
“I am thankful for the positive and constructive feedback we received during and after Gizmos & Gadgets and have accordingly implemented a few tweaks to our Rising Legends Circuit. With Set 7 we would like to focus and support our regional competitions driving maturity with the implementation of TRCs (TFT Regional Competitions).”
The entire Dragonlands season will be broadcast on Teamfight Tactics’ Twitch channel alongside a range of co-streamers who have yet to be revealed.
