With the Western Regional Qualifiers of the FIFA 22 Ultimate Pro Gaming (UPG) Tournament set to kick off over the weekend at the Takoradi Mall, Ghanaian esports organisation, Ruutz Esports, have revealed their roster to take on PlayProvince, Samurais Esports, and Originals Esports for the region’s two slots for the Grand Finals in Decemeber.

The gamers set to represent Ruutz Esports are Kennedy, Cobs, and Max as they battle for a chance to win the competition’s first-place prize of GH₵10,000 as well as other prizes from the event’s sponsors. This was revealed by Ruutz founder Kwesi Hayford, who stated, “The Ruutz Esports FIFA Team made up of Kennedy, Cobs, and Max will be playing live on location at the Takoradi Mall for the chance to be part of the qualifying teams at the Grand Finals in Accra.”

The FIFA 22 Ultimate Pro Gaming (UPG) Tournament, which is organised by the UPG Esports Agency, officially kicked off back in August with the Greater Accra Qualifiers which were held at the Game It Up! Hub. Ghanaian esports newcomers Xplosion Esports and Team Falcon GH have qualified for the competition’s Grand Finals.

Speaking to YFM about the upcoming qualifiers, UPG CEO, Anthony Botchway, said “Accra has gotten two super teams to represent in the finals come December, and now we’re going to find out which teams will beat the odds for a spot to represent Takoradi in the finals.”

“The journey has been all fun and brilliant from the gamers like we experienced at the Marina Mall. The venue for Takoradi’s game is classic and we hope the teams are prepared for the heat.”

The Ultimate Pro Gaming (UPG) Esports Agency was founded in 2020 by Ghanaian entrepreneur Anthony Botchway to organise competitive esports tournaments across Africa as the organisation looks to develop and promote the emerging sport to compete among the top pro gaming industries in the world.
