A 3D version of Virago is being developed
Nigerian game developers, Honest Chronicle Studios, have revealed they are currently working on a 3D version of their popular hyper-casual 2D adventure platformer “Virago.”
This was announced by the game’s developer, Sunday Akor, who revealed the first image of the upcoming game “I am glad to announce that development on my very first 3D indie game, called Virago Willows Adventure, has begun! I’m looking forward to what will hopefully be my studio’s biggest title.”
“Making video games has always been a long journey, but the best part is when it’s completed. It’s always worth it in the end.” He further stated
Honest Chronicle’s Virago has seen some success over the past few months following its initial release on Steam, where it received mixed reviews with 56% of reviewers recommending the game.
The reviews of the game seem to have improved following the release of the mobile versions, with the game even achieving the number 10 spot on the Google Play Store‘s top new free games in the United States (US) back in May.
Virago tells the story of Willow, a young girl who, after an incident with her stalker, begins to suffer from hallucinations which affect her psychologically and emotionally.
The game seems to take inspiration from other indie titles such as Playdead and Double Eleven’s popular puzzle-platformer Limbo, but differentiates itself by telling a unique story with unique features – such as giving the player delayed/slow attacks as a way to implement Willow’s severe anxiety in the game.
