A Shark is set to hunt in the Red Bull Kumite Cage!

There is another local gamer who has risen through the ranks to become one of the best
competitive fighting game players in South Africa— his name is Mark “MarkTheShark” Moonsamy.
Hailing from Durban and representing the local gaming organisation Illusion Gaming,
MarkTheShark successfully qualified to represent South Africa (and the African region as a whole)
in Street Fighter 6 when he won the local leg of the Red Bull Kumite qualifiers last year at Comic
Con Cape Town. On April 5–6, MarkTheShark will proudly hoist South Africa’s flag when he
competes against some of the best Street Fighter 6 gamers on the planet at the Red Bull Kumite
Finals being held at Maison de la Mutualité in Paris, France. This will be the 10th edition of this
prestigious event, which returns to Paris, where it all began back in 2015!

About Illusion Gaming
Originally formed as an African fighting game team based in South Africa with members from
around the continent, Illusion Gaming is now evolving into a more multifaceted gaming
organisation. Currently top-ranked in both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, with players
competing at the highest level within Africa in both, we are looking to expand our roster and solidify
our brand as one of the best fighting game teams in Africa. We aim to represent the region both
locally across the continent and internationally on the biggest stages in the world.

About MarkTheShark
MarkTheShark was unofficially ranked among the top three Mortal Kombat 11 players in Africa due
to his outstanding results at the highest level, as well as becoming a two-time African Champion
through the “Kahn of Africa” events held from 2019 to 2021. He was also officially the number one
ranked Mortal Kombat 11 player in South Africa before switching to Street Fighter 6, where he has
quickly risen through the local rankings. He has competed at the highest level in both the Capcom
Cup qualifiers and the Red Bull Kumite qualifiers, events that allow their respective winners to
represent South Africa and Africa on the world stage. MarkTheShark secured second place in the
Capcom Cup, narrowly losing in the grand finals, and won Red Bull Kumite South Africa.
