Chosen Championship Returns for Second Edition
The highly anticipated second edition of the Chosen Championship, a premier esports event held in the West African nation of Ghana, is set to take place from July 22–23 at the Otium Game Hub in East Legon, Accra. Presented by Digital Diaspora and powered by Gold Standard Gaming Agency in partnership with the Esports Association, Ghana (EAG), this thrilling tournament promises to bring together top esports talent from across the West African nation.
On June 4, 2022, the inaugural Chosen Championship took place at the Otium Game Hub. The event featured a Mortal Kombat (MK) Invitational, gathering the most skilled MK gamers in the country who battled it out for a share of the GH₵2,000 prize pool. So I said well if I am going to Ghana, I gotta call Kwesi and so once I started talking to Kwesi we decided we were going to start doing some big things for esports in Ghana.”
Furthermore, Burton shared his thoughts on Digital Diaspora, emphasising its potential to revolutionise the world. He humbly acknowledged, “I don’t take full credit for it, I have a great team including Marcus Howard, Kat Shields-Moon, Taylor Gordon,[and] Akia West, and I just gotta name these people because they’ve helped me bring this to life.”
He added, “It is going to be a spectacular event, it’s about connecting Africans and African-Americans in a way that we haven’t seen in decades and centuries.”
