Cote D’Ivoire Misses out on Major African Esports Competition

This weekend will see many African Esports Athletes heading to Casablanca, Morocco, participating in the first major continental esports tournament for Africa. The African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS) in partnership with the International Esports Federation (IESF) is playing host to the tournament.

One country, Cote D’Ivoire, however is missing out on all the action, and will not be represented at the African Championship. Esports Africa News has been privy to some communications which suggest the countries esports representatives failed to meet the stated guidelines for IESF member country basic requirements including the non payment of IESF registration fees.

Esports Africa News understands other countries who are not yet members of the ACDS are attending the African Championship, which is contrary to the assertions made the Ivorian national organisation.

This is however disappointing for many esports athletes from Cote D’Ivoire as innocent athletes are being ‘punished’ for events totally not their fault.

What this event will be is to bring into sharp focus how opportunities may be missed in the growth and development of esports in Africa if standards are not set and followed to meet all international standards.

As esports develops on the continent, many disputes may arise, Esports Africa news in partnership with the African Interactive and Digital Entertainment Foundation (AfrI-DE) will be providing alternative dispute services to esports teams, athletes and associated business in the African region.
