Esports Africa News (EAN), one of Africa’s most reliable esports news sources, will be making its way to the University of Warwick in Coventry, England, from March 22–23 for the maiden edition of the Esports Insider (ESI) Next Gen.

The event, which was announced in December 2022, was designed by ESI and the University of Warwick to “unite leaders across the esports, video games, and education sectors,” and given the outstanding work done by the EAN team to promote the developing sport on the African continent, it is not surprising that they would be included in a list that also includes organisations like Electronic Arts (EA), British Esports, and Melanin Gamers, among many others.

Co-founder of Esports Africa News (EAN), Gabriel Atsu Sikanku, discussed the company’s attendance to the ESI Nex Gen and how he and his team saw the event as an opportunity to expand their education in order to help the African esports industry flourish. “Education and empowerment are important for the development and sustainability of the esports and game development ecosystems in Africa. We are looking to build strategic collaborative connections at the ESI event.”

Managing Director and Founder at ESI, Sam Cooke, spoke about the upcoming event and his excitement to work with the University of Warwick. “We are really excited to be working with the University of Warwick for Esports Insider’s first foray into an education-oriented event. At ESI Next Gen, we’ll be able to exhibit, discuss, and workshop how the industry can work with educators to support the next generation of talent.”

The three main tracks of ESI Next Gen will include presentations on the main stage as well as a number of workshops for staff and students in higher education. These topics will include leadership in esports and games education, addressing the difficulties of curriculum design, graduate destinations, policy, and sector growth.
