Mafia game confirmed to be in development
Hangar 13, the developers of the popular Mafia series, confirmed earlier today that a brand-new Mafia game is in the works, though it is unclear whether it will be titled Mafia 4.
This was revealed by Hangar 13 General Manager Roman Hladík and Head of Production and Media Director Tomáš Hřebíček during a Mafia 20th anniversary interview, with Hladík confirming the news by stating, “I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project!”
“While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.”
The franchise has been going strong since its initial release back in 2002 with the latest edition in the franchise being a 2020 remake of the original Mafia game which was praised for featuring “excellent performances from its new cast, a fantastic driving model, and a beautiful and authentic city oozing with 1930s atmosphere.”
The game sees the player take part in an open-world featuring a story that stretches from the 1930s to the 1960s with many hinting at the possibility of the next game being set in a Scarface-inspired 1980s.
Gamers looking forward to the next edition in the franchise should know that this announcement doesn’t mean the game could be out in the next year or so and that it might be a while before we see this new project.
