Making Regional Esports Tournaments Accessible- The Case of Gamers Cote D’Ivoire
In a more recent article posted on Esports Africa News website with the heading “Cote D’Ivoire misses out on major African Esports Competition”, further information has come to light on the events which led to esports athletes missing out their opportunity to be at one of Africa’s greatest Regional Tournament.
Esports Africa News have seen additional information including letters purported to be the engagement between Gamers CI and IESF on the attendance of Gamers CI at the ongoing African Esports Championship being held in Morocco.
Gamers CI is registered with IESF and GEF and are the national organisation representing esports athletes in Cote D’Ivoire.
The Esports African Championship, a regional IESF event, held in Morocco under the auspices of African Confederation of Digital Sports and support from the Government of Morocco.
From information received by EAN, the timing of the communications and the differences in positions held did not allow a resolution in good time to allow the attendance of the athletes from Cote D’Ivoire.
This event has brought about division in the esports community in Cote D’Ivoire as Gamers CI believe they have been treated unfairly and some athletes believe this has caused them an opportunity.
