Ghana held qualifiers for next month’s Gamr X tournament on Saturday, March 19 at the Esports Academy in Accra.

The qualifiers organised by Gamr and supported by the Esports Association Ghana (EAG) saw over 50 gamers compete in FIFA22 and Mortal Kombat 11 (MK11) Ultimate for a slot in Ghana’s team for the 10 nations tournament set to be held in Lagos, Nigeria.

After hours of incredibly tough competition, Ghanaian esports athletes Manuel “N’gohlow” of Tema Esports Club and the “Assassin” Mahardy who plays for Gamers Republic would claim victory as well as the opportunity to represent the nation in FIFA22 and MK11 Ultimate respectively.

N’gohlow would face a tough challenge in the Final as he faced an in-form Prince Jonas who won back-to-back victories at the FIFA vs PES Independence Battle held on March 6 and the Independence Day FIFA22 Cup only a day later on March 7.

The first-leg of the FInal would see the evenly matched duo tie 2-2 and the second-leg looked to be heading in a similar direction with the game tied at 1-1 by the 80-minute mark, however, a late winner by N’gohlow would end Jonas’ win streak and earn him a ticket to Nigeria.
