Founder and CEO of the Lagos Esports Forum (LESF), Sayo Owolabi was one of the panellists at the OAL Sports Business and Development Summit held online from May 11-12.

Sayo was speaking during the “Exploring New terrain and opportunities in sports” discussion of the event in which he compared the development of esports to football stating;

“In times past, Nigerian parents used to discourage their children from playing football. Fast forward to today, parents now want their children to be the next big football star. This is where eSports is going.”

The LESF Founder also spoke on the importance of creating a smart experience for the fans of the sports saying that;

“We need to move from physical fan experience to smart experience, in such a way that those that are not present at the event can still engage”

The OAL Sports Business and Development Summit which is set to wrap up today May 12 aims to address the significance of bringing together all national, regional, and global players involved in the promotion and development of sport, as well as to discuss sports-related concerns and provide solutions.

The summit brought together some sports heavyweights including General Secretary of the Africa Beach Soccer Union (ABSU), Arc. Taye Olajide, Project Lead for Pulse Sports, James Torvaney and Managing Director/CEO of Premium Sports Management Services Limited, Nkechi Obi among many others.
