In a significant milestone for esports development in Senegal, the country has unveiled a LAN network exclusively designed for competitive video gaming or esports. This landmark achievement was solidified through the signing of a partnership agreement on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, between the Comité National de Promotion du Esports (CONAPES) and Senegal Numérique. This collaboration marks a major leap forward for esports in Senegal and sets the stage for further growth and advancement in the industry.

As a part of the partnership agreement, 45 hubs within the established Espaces Sénégal Services (ESS) in all 14 regions of Senegal have committed to exclusively dedicate their spaces to esports. These hubs are equipped with state-of-the-art connectivity, including over 6,000 km of optical fibre and high-speed broadband. This strategic move is anticipated to boost the growth of esports in education and competitions across Senegal, positioning the country as a leading esports hub in Africa, with increased development and opportunities for the esports community.

This initiative provides a platform for training in professions associated with video games, catering to the aspirations of Senegalese gamers. It aligns with the vision of fostering digital inclusion, ensuring that esports and its associated opportunities are accessible to all, and contributing to the growth of the gaming community in Senegal.

The team behind the partnership between CONAPES and Senegal Numérique is enthusiastic about the future of esports in Senegal. They are planning to roll out more events and expand the number of dedicated spaces available for esports competitions and training. With a vision for continued growth and development, the esports community in Senegal can look forward to a bright future with increased opportunities and spaces to foster their passion for competitive video gaming.
