Tech Girl nominated for DStv Content Creator Awards
The inaugural DStv Content Creator Awards have nominated South African esports personality Sam “Tech Girl” Wright’s podcast “Tech Girl Talks” for Podcast of the Year.
The Awards Night, which is scheduled to take place on September 10 in Sandton, Johannesburg, will see Tech Girl’s podcast, which jumps into topics of interest around esports and gaming, go up against Our Love Journey with Mpoomy, POPcast4Real, SlikourOnlife, and Women Wright.
Speaking about her nomination and chances, the South African esports personality tweeted, “So I’ll 100% not win, because my category is stacked, but I’ll be at the awards show on Saturday for the DStv Content Creator Awards-rad to have my lil esports podcast recognised by the larger creative community in South Africa.”
Tech Girl’s podcast “Tech Girl Talks” officially launched back in July 2021 and is scripted, hosted, and created by Tech Girl as she talks about a number of topics surrounding esports such as representation in video games, and landing sponsorship in esports among others. The podcast currently has 20 episodes.
The DStv Content Creator Awards is the brainchild of One-eyed Jack, in collaboration with partners DStv, TikTok, Netwerk24, Meltwater, INJOZI, Sol, Mushroom Productions, Humanz, and Steyn Entertainment, and is set to celebrate the people, brands, and agencies behind thumb-stopping content.
After going through thousands of hours of content from over 1,500 entries from more than 900 registered creators, brands, agencies, and influencers across 23 categories, the nominees for the first-ever DStv Content Creator Awards were announced on July 21 at The Hallmark House in Johannesburg to the over 200 shortlisted entrants, brands, agencies, and the awards’ partners.
