Tutaleni Ilonga, the visionary founder of Namibia’s leading game company, Tura Life Entertainment, expressed immense gratitude for the incredible opportunity to attend the prestigious Xbox Game Studios Publishing and Microsoft’s Game Camp Africa event in Johannesburg over the weekend of July 15–16. The event not only provided a platform for learning more about the ever-evolving game development scene but also offered a unique chance to network with industry professionals and showcase the excellent work of his team in creating a sustainable game development environment in Namibia.
The event boasted an impressive lineup of speakers, featuring luminaries like Esteban Lora, Temi Afolabi, Agnes Kim, Cassie Simpson, Peter Zetterberg, and numerous others. One of the highlights of the event for Ilonga was the opportunity to engage with Imogen Beresford-Bone, the production partner at Xbox Game Studios Publishing. Their conversation delved into the intricacies of game development and provided valuable insights that Ilonga was eager to implement in his team’s future projects.
“Despite not [having had much time], I had some very exciting chats with Imogen Beresford-Bone, who is the production partner at Xbox Game Studios Publishing,” Ilonga shared enthusiastically, as he hopes her expertise and passion for gaming will help elevate his work at Tura Life Entertainment.
The event also fostered an environment conducive to networking, bringing together a diverse group of driven individuals who are collectively shaping the African gaming landscape. Notable figures like Yashaar Mall, Aphiwe Madonsela, Luzaan Janse van Rensburg, Taakila Mugo, and many others exchanged ideas and experiences, solidifying the sense of community among game developers in the region.
