The Esports Kenya Federation (ESKF) wrapped up their eFootball qualifiers for the 2022 Global Esports Games (GEG) on Saturday, September 24 at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) with Evanda “Viera” Maina booking the East African nation’s sole spot.

The qualifiers, which were organised by the ESKF in partnership with Kenyan esports organisation, IndexG Esports, brought together the country’s best and brightest gamers to compete for the chance to represent their nation at the global event which will run from December 14–18 in İstanbul, Turkey.

IndexG after the qualifiers congratulated Viera on his victory and thanked the ESKF for giving them the opportunity to host the event. “Congratulations to Evanda “Viera” Maina for winning the eFootball Kenyan Qualifiers. Viera will now represent Kenya in İstanbul, Turkey in the Global Esports Games set for December 2022, organised by [the] Global Esports Federation.”

“IndexG would like to thank all gamers who participated. GGs guys. We also thank the Esports Kenya Federation (ESKF) for trusting us with the responsibility of being the tournament organisers. We wish them all the best as they kick off preparations for [the] global games.”

Confidence in IndexG’s ability to host the qualifiers was never in doubt as the Kenyan esports organisation has successfully organised 17 events since its founding back in 2020, including the East African nation’s Commonwealth Esports Championship (CEC) Qualifiers as well as partnering with the French Ligue 1 Uber Eats in their global esports competition, the eLigue1 Tour.

“IndexG have demonstrated their ability in running quality esports events. Earlier this year, they delivered a wonderful qualifier event for the Commonwealth Esports Championship Kenyan qualifiers and we are hoping that they will take [it] a notch higher, “said Joseph Bavon, CEO of the Esports Kenya Federation, ahead of the GEG Qualifiers.

The 2022 Global Esports Games (GEG) is the second edition of the Global Esports Federation‘s (GEF) flagship event and will bring together the best of the best from across the globe to compete in four major esports titles, including DOTA 2 (Valve), PUBG Mobile (KRAFTON & Level Infinite), eFootball 2023 (KONAMI), and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition (Capcom).

The event will run from December 14–18, 2022, with the GEFcon — the GEF’s global convention of thought leaders, and the GEFestival — the dynamic celebration of esports, entertainment, and youth culture being held in parallel.
