2022 Global Esports Games kick off today
The Global Esports Federation’s (GEF) flagship event, the Global Esports Games (GEG), is about to kick off. The second edition of the prestigious multi-title competition that bridges esports, sports, technology, entertainment, and culture—the Istanbul 2022 Global Esports Games—takes place from December 15–17, 2022.
The #GEG22 will be staged in the historic city of Istanbul, at the intersection of Asia and Europe – as the world looks toward the future of sport, at one of Europe’s largest hotels, the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center.
Over 300 athletes from 65 nations and territories will compete for the ultimate glory in four titles: DOTA 2, eFootball™ 2023, PUBG MOBILE, and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. Playoffs will take place on Thursday and Friday, with the World Finals staged at the 1500-seat custom-built GEG Arena on Friday and Saturday.
GEFcon – the GEF’s global convention of thought leaders – will feature more than 30 global speakers from diverse fields including esports, entertainment, technology, design, business, athletes & youth, as well as academia. They will exchange ideas and share perspectives across a series of keynote speeches and panels from the esports stage at the GEG Arena.
GEFcon will be moderated by two world-renowned thought leaders and media personalities: LJ Rich, a BBC presenter, NASA Datanaut and host of the UN’s ITU #AIForGood summit; and Mustafa Özben, a celebrated host, including at multiple Olympic and Paralympic Games and other global events.
The third GEF General Assembly will take place at the #GEG22, alongside a series of Athletes & Community-focused Workshops designed for athletes and teams. The GEF is also proud to officially launch the Global Esports Academy at the event this week.
The Istanbul 2022 Global Esports Games will be streamed in English on the GEF’s Twitch and YouTube channels, and in Turkish on Spor Istanbul’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
The event is supported by IBB Spor Istanbul and the Turkish Esports Federation (TESFED), and partners – BtcTurk, TCL, Karnaval, Hamidiye, xDrive, and Tchibo.
