Colin Webster proud of SA female gamers

President of Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), Colin Webster, spoke about his pride in South African female athletes.

Colin revealed this in an exclusive interview with SAfm’s Sports Trax show calling South African female esports athletes something to behold “We are very proud of our female gamers, they have done very well and they have represented South Africa very well.”

“I mean we even had a previous President demand space for the African [unintelligible] who not only was she President but she actually represented South Africa in the Proteas Team in Azerbaijan this was back in 2014 and [she] did it with style.”

“So we are actually very proud of our female esports athletes, they are really something to behold,” Colin concluded.

South Africa’s female team are really a treat, enjoying success in a number of tournaments they have participated in with names such as Gabriella Isaacs and Lyrene Kühn who enjoyed success at the 2012 IeSF World Championship in South Korea where Issacs would claim a silver medal in the female StarCraft II event and Kühn would place a very respectable 4th place in fighting game Tekken.

Another lady dominating the global esports space is the 2020 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Cycling Esports World Championships gold medalist, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, who unfortunately failed to defend her crown at the 2022 edition of the competition – she would however still finish in a respectable 4th place at the event.

Certainly, the female component of South Africa’s esports team has never let the country down, and South Africa owes much to its female esports athletes for the team being officially ranked amongst some of the best in the world.
