Kon10dr move 2022 KEC to the virtual space
Kon10dr, a Nigerian esports organisation, has stated that its in-person competition, the Kon10dr Esports Championship (KEC), slated for December 27-29, will be moved to the virtual arena.
The organisation made the announcement in a press release, which stated: “The work we do at Kon10dr has always been focused on what is best for the gamer as we strive to bring them the very best of experiences, which is why it is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of the upcoming second edition of the Kon10dr Esports Championship (KEC) LAN event.”
“The event is now slated to air live on our YouTube channel on the 27 to 29 December as a virtual event.”
According to the organisation, the move is being made due to safety concerns as Nigeria prepares for its 2023 General Elections “Unfortunately, this is owing to safety concerns that have arisen as the country approaches its 2023 General Elections.”
“It saddens us at Kon10dr to have to do this, but the safety of our gamers, guests, and fans is paramount. As a result, we will assess the security situation and share further details with the community as we go along.”
The Kon10dr Esports Championship (KEC) is one of Nigeria’s most prominent esports events, bringing together some of the West African nation’s finest esports athletes to participate in a number of competitions for a substantial prize pool. The first edition of the event took place in 2021, with a mouthwatering prize pool of ₦25 million ($56,500).
