DigiArt Fest to kick off December 16
At the Acacia Mall in Kampala, Uganda, the sixth edition of the yearly comic convention known as DigiArt Fest is scheduled to begin on December 16 and last until December 17.
The two-day convention which is organised by Tribe Uganda with the theme “Digital Art, The Next Frontier,” is anticipated to bring together animators, illustrators, and gamers from not only the East African nation but a number of its neighbours, including, among others, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya.
The event will begin this year with a game jam where game developers from Uganda and beyond will come together to build games that will be made available to the public on the Tribe Uganda website portal. Additionally, there will be animation and comic book artist exhibitions.
According to a statement on the Tribe Uganda website, “We are proud to have amongst us Ugandan Disney directors who will be on panels alongside key industry practitioners from Uganda and abroad to discuss matters concerning the industry today.”
“The aim of the Digiart Fest is to promote collaboration amongst digital content creators and businesses from other sectors and a platform to showcase skills and production processes.”
The convention will also feature video game and cosplay competitions with prizes for the victors. Additionally, the occasion will give digital artists a chance to meet potential customers and supporters both in person and online.
The DigiArt Fest, which was started by Tribe Uganda Founder Laurean Ntaate in 2017, has grown over the years and now draws thousands of visitors from across the continent to witness some of the nation’s finest pieces of art such as Kalabanda, which was unveiled at the event back in 2017, and animations like Bamukute Idle and Black Zone, among many others.
If you wish to be a part of the annual Digiart Fest, which kicks off from December 16–17 at the Acacia Mall in Kampala, Uganda, tickets will be sold at the venue for USh15,000 for each day.
