The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formally joined forces with the Esports Association, Ghana (EAG) to strengthen the country’s football esports ecosystem.

The EAG announced the partnership on its social media platforms, stating that the esports association will support the GFA in organising “tournament qualifiers, player training sessions, and consultation on rules, platforms, and player management.”

“Our commitment to building a solid framework is to also work with existing sports institutions, not to reinvent the wheel but to accelerate the wheel via collaboration to build greater synergy for the development of esports in Ghana,” a statement from the Esports Association, Ghana (EAG) read.

“For these young ones or players… Their dream is to play professionally, and these opportunities created is just a pathway to greatness and a better livelihood.”

Both organisations collaborated in May 2022 at the GFA’s etrophy championship, which acted as a qualifier to choose the gamers who would represent the country in their debut at the 2022 FIFAe Nations Series.

For the past few days, the national FIFAe team, the Black Asteroids, have been practising at the GFA HQ Conference Room in preparation for the online qualifiers for the 2023 FIFAe Nations Series season. The practise session concluded yesterday, November 22nd.
