#EveryGamerCounts

Goethe-Institut’s gaming project in South Africa (SA), dubbed “#EveryGamerCounts,” edges closer every day as the first event of the project, “Game Jam,” kicks off on August 13 at the Uncle Tom’s Community Centre, Soweto.

The event aims to strengthen the inclusion, networking and visibility of underrepresented groups in the South African gaming scene and create platforms that put the issue of diversity up for discussion.

#EveryGamerCounts is set to take place from August to September and will organise “Game Jams” and panel discussions in townships around Gauteng.

Experts from all over the world will discuss current issues in esports and the gaming community as the project seeks to challenge existing stereotypes and raise awareness of obstacles faced by women, minorities, and people with disabilities in the industry.

Though the “Game Jams” for the upcoming event will only be available in person, the panel discussions with various experts from all over the world are available both remotely and in person.
