Côte d’Ivoire’s southern Atlantic coastal city, Abidjan, is set to play host to some of the continent’s finest gamers when the 2022 Africa Esports Championship takes place from October 28–29.

This was revealed by Ivorian esports tournament operator Gamers Côte d’Ivoire, who are the organisers of the upcoming event with support from the Africa Esports Championship (AEC) and Africa Electronic Sports Association (AESA).

The 2022 Africa Esports Championship is set to serve as Africa’s Regional Qualifiers for the 14th International Esports Federation (IESF) World Esports Championships, which is set to be held in Bali, Indonesia from December 1–12.

Gamers from 12 African nations, including host Côte d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, Djibouti, Burkina Faso, Libya, Nigeria, Senegal, and Morocco, look set to battle it out in the competition’s five (5) titles: PUBG Mobile (PUBGM), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Tekken 7, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) for a chance to represent the continent at the global event.

The 14th edition of the World Esports Championship will see the finest gamers the world has to offer troop into Bali and lock horns with one another in the global events’ six (6) titles—which includes eFootball, which is not a part of the African Regional Qualifiers—to not only prove they are the best but to also secure the bigger slice of the competition’s total prize pool of $500,000.
