QueenArrow finished 5th at CANOC Esports Series
Kenya esports star, Sylvia “QueenArrow” Gathoni, placed 5th in the mixed Tekken 7 event at Giga’Games Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) Esports Series, which was held in parallel to the inaugural Caribbean Games from June 29 to July 3 in Guadeloupe.
Sylvia was invited to participate in what was her third international event, and the Kenyan star wouldn’t disappoint, claiming not only 5th place but the best female player award.
“Welp, 5th place out of 15 players in the mixed Tekken event and winning best female player ain’t too bad for my third international tourney. I get to bring home the gold and glory. Praise be to the Most High,” QueenArrow said after the event.
“A huge thank you to the team over at CANOC Sports and Giga’Games Federation for making this event possible and inviting me over to Guadeloupe to participate. It was a memorable experience and one that I will remember,” she further stated
The historic inclusion of the CANOC Esports Series comes as the result of a series of discussions that started in 2020 with the Guadeloupe Olympic Committee to produce modern and innovative Games aimed at engaging young people.
The Esports Series was sanctioned by the CANOC Executive Board to be held at the same time as the Caribbean Games while remaining independent of Guadeloupe 2022, much like the upcoming 2022 Commonwealth Esports Championships (CEC).
