Registration for the Greater Accra Regional Qualifiers of the Ultimate Pro Gaming (UPG) Esports Agency’s FIFA 22 Ultimate Pro Gaming Tournament has officially closed with 5 of the available 6 slots filled.

The registration process for the Greater Accra qualifiers ran from August 1–8 and according to the Founder and CEO of the UPG, Anthony Botchway, despite UPG not filling the 6 available slots, the qualifiers will go on unabated. He also revealed that the organisation is still willing to consider applications for the final slot.

If an esports club feels like they didn’t get the information on time or they didn’t get access to the platform to sign up and they want to fill that one slot, we can make it available to them. If not, we are going ahead with the five teams that we have,” Anthony said in an exclusive interview with EAN.

The five confirmed teams set to participate in the UPG’s FIFA 22 Ultimate Pro Gaming Tournament will be revealed publicly by the end of the week, and Anthony revealed that six days before the event, the registered teams will be profiled by YFM, one of the event’s many media partners.

“Each team will be going to YFM for an interview, and that is more like another exposure for the team, and they get the opportunity to express themselves.” The UPG Esports Agency CEO stated.

The UPG’s FIFA 22 Ultimate Pro Gaming Tournament was officially launched back on June 24 at the Game It Up! Hub in Marina Mall, Accra. The competition is set to see gamers from across three regions (i.e. Greater Accra, Western and Ashanti regions) in the nation battle it out for the GH₵13,000 ($1,635.22) prize pool.
