Founder and CEO of the Lagos Esports Forum (LESF) Sayo Owolabi represented the Global Esports Federation (GEF) at the inaugural International Telecommunication Union‘s (ITU) Generation Connect Global Youth Summit from June 2-4 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Following the event, Sayo spoke about what a great honour it was to represent the federation at the event as he got to meet so many passionate youths from over 40 countries.

“It was indeed a great honour representing our world connected at the Global Esports Federation at the International Telecommunication Union’s inaugural Generation Connect Global Youth Summit held at the Intare Convention Centre.” the LESF CEO stated

“Meeting so many young people from over 40 countries (of the over 100 in attendance) was so delightful as they had this unique energy, passion and drive in their different backgrounds and sectors.”

Sayo also spoke about the joy he had spreading the gospel of esports and how the emerging sport had impacted the lives of youths across the continent alongside Kenyan esports star Sylvia “QueenArrow” Gathoni who was recently named in Forbes Africa 30 Under 30.

“Together with Africa’s leading gamer and Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2022 awardee, Sylvia Gathoni we propagated the gospel of esports and how it has impacted the lives of young people across the continent, thanks to the GEF.”

The Education, Culture & Youth (ECY) and International Relations & Development (IRD) Commissions member also thanked GEF CEO Paul J. Foster for his support.
