Esports Tourism in Africa

The esports scene in Senegal and The Gambia came alive with the Gaming Tour, an exceptional series of events organized by SENGAMES, the Senegalese Gamers Association, in partnership with the network of alliances and the French Institute of Senegal, as well as AMZI Group, a supplier of computer and gaming equipment. This event, held from May 11 to June 22, 2024, brought together nearly 600 passionate gamers across the cities of Ziguinchor, The Gambia, Kaolack, Saint-Louis, and Dakar, where the final stage took place.

Competitions were fierce across iconic titles such as EA FC 24, eFootball, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and COD Mobile. Each tour stop unveiled exceptional talents, highlighting the enthusiasm and potential of the gaming community in the region. At every stop, players showcased their skills and mastery of the games, delivering moments of suspense and excitement to an enthusiastic audience.

The tour culminated in Dakar, where the top players faced off in an epic finale. By the end of this national adventure, a total sum of 1,000,000 CFA francs was distributed among the various tournament winners, rewarding their efforts and passion. The Gaming Tour not only strengthened the cohesion of the gaming community but also demonstrated the potential of esports as a vector for development and unity in the region.
