Victim’s parents ask for lawsuit to be dismissed

Activision Blizzard

The parents of former Activision Blizzard employee Kerri Moynihan have requested to withdraw their sexual harassment lawsuit against the games’ developer.

Kerri who was on a company retreat with Activision Blizzard back in 2017 sadly passed away after taking her own life.

This led to a lawsuit being filed in March of this year which aimed to hold Activision Blizzard accountable for the sexual harassment going on at the company, and specifically, how it played a significant part in Kerri’s decision to end her own life.

One example of said harassment was that during a holiday party, sensitive photos of the victim were passed around for her coworkers to view.

The parents’ reasons for wishing to withdraw the lawsuit are currently unclear, with no official reason being given with the request.

Not only do the parents of the deceased wish to dismiss the lawsuit, but they also want to do so “with prejudice”. This essentially means that Activision Blizzard cannot be sued again for the same lawsuit.

While a dismissal would close the door on this case, a judge has recently ordered Activision Blizzard to pay an $18 million settlement for a wider sexual misconduct lawsuit.
