The groups for the online Middle East and Africa (MENA) Qualifiers of the 2022 FIFAe Nations Cup have been drawn as countries look to secure one of the 24 spots at the upcoming competition.

Group A of the qualifiers consists of Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Georgia, Bahrain, Kazakhstan and Morocco.

This year’s edition of the MENA Qualifiers sees the addition of a second group ‘Group B’ which includes South Africa, Palestine, Ghana, Oman and Lebanon.

The 2022 FIFAe Nations Series will however kick off at a domestic level with the MA eTrophy, which will see each country selecting their most skilled players to compete at the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers.

President of the Esports Association, Ghana (EAG), Kwesi Hayford, revealed his joy as Ghana is set to make their debut at the competition “it’s been a long road to get into the FIFA eNations Cup.” He said

“To be part of this tournament means a lot to the youth of Ghana, recognizing their efforts of not only playing the beautiful game of football on [the] field [but] online [as well].”

“The FIFA game franchise is the highest-selling title in Ghana and probably in Africa, [and] almost every home or gaming hub [will have] the FIFA Game CD or digital [version] installed on consoles and PCs.”

Hayford also revealed that his association is working closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to make sure the country makes qualifies for the FIFA eNations Cup.

“I am happy to say that we will be working with the Ghana Football Association closely to [make sure] the [country] qualifies for the FIFA eNations Cup.”

“Ghana’s video games and esports ecosystem will continue to rise as we look forward with high hopes in the future of work, entertainment, education and lifestyle that esports pivots around.”
