Africa’s Talking Open Hackathon in Kaduna, Nigeria, has brought together an array of talented game developers from across the continent to participate in a thrilling competition centred around creating innovative gaming solutions. Held every last Friday of the month, this event is currently taking place at the IT Central Limited office in Ungwan Sarki Muslimi, Kaduna, Nigeria. With a focus on utilising 2G technology, participants are challenged to build intuitive gaming experiences that are sure to impress.
This exciting event brings together an array of talented developers from across the continent, including gaming developers, AI developers, ML developers, gaming companies, gaming entrepreneurs, and betting companies.
This month’s event will feature a lineup of exceptional speakers, including Sanusi Abdulkadir, Africa’s Talking Community Lead for Kaduna, Nigeria, Nasiru Mustapha, the Founder of IT Central Limited, and Abubakar Saleh Usman, the Product Support Engineer at Africa’s Talking. Each speaker brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the tech industry, making them valuable resources for attendees.
The focus of this month’s hackathon is Gaming Solutions, and participants will have the chance to explore three key areas: gaming applications, coding games, and the incorporation of Africa’s Talking APIs. This is the perfect opportunity for developers to showcase their skills and build intuitive gaming experiences that are sure to impress.
The winning solution will receive a cash prize, with the winner taking home ₦50,000, the first runners-up receiving ₦30,000, and the second runners-up receiving ₦20,000. Plus, there will be exclusive prizes and giveaways for attendees. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network, innovate, and gain access to the talent bench, potentially landing a job or a gig on the spot.
In addition to the gaming-focused competition, the event will feature Elarian, a customer engagement framework that helps developers build robust applications with the customer as the unit of abstraction. Africa’s Talking, on the other hand, provides powerful SMS, USSD, Voice, Airtime, and Payments APIs to bring ideas to life and build and sustain scalable businesses.
Africa’s Talking Open Hackathon in Kaduna, Nigeria’s agenda includes warm-up sessions for introductions, team formation, feedback, and feature requests. Participants will then dive into the building/hacking phases, coding in GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket and deploying in Docker/Automated CI/Travis CI/Bamboo. And for the grand finale, teams or individuals will demo what they have hacked for feedback or adoption.
