Jaguar crowned Togbui FIFA II
The second edition of the Volta FIFA Championship which was held in Ho over the weekend saw Daniel Osei popularly known as Jaguar, being crowned champion. The event which happened at the Volta Fair (Ho Sports Stadium) saw the Hohoe based top eSports talent emerging as the new regional champion and crowned, Togbui FIFA II.The competition was organized by Eze Gaming Hub in collaboration with the Ghana ESports Association and saw sixteen (16) participants in groups of four (4) battle it out for the ultimate prize.The maiden edition of the Volta FIFA Championship, organised in 2020 saw Maxline Ziddah Kofi emerging winner and being crowned Togbui FIFA I. This year’s tournament came with lots of surprises and competitive display from the players and an amazing atmosphere created by the fans who came to support in their numbers. The defending Champion Max shockingly exited in the group stages much to the disappointment of fans and enthusiasts.
Jaguar put up a spirited performance with some great comebacks including one in the final game against last year’s first runner-up Senam Bakudie aka Excel, coming from 2 goals down to win by 3-2. Last year’s second runner up Duncan Samuel aka Qwesisam also lost to David Delase Kumi aka Leco by 2-1 in the 3rd place play off.As part of his prize package, Jaguar took home the beautiful Volta FIFA Championship trophy, a gold medal and a brand new SKYWORTH 32 inch LED TV set from official sponsors Victor Electronics. Excel took home a silver medal and a complete DSTV zapper decoder from Dstv Ghana alongside an HD+ Decoder from Eden Satellite Servives for scoring 31 goals to win the Goal King accolade. Second runner-up, Leco, took home a bronze medal and a gaming headset from TechXhub. Third runner-up Sammy was adjudged Best Player of the Tournament by the technical team made up of members from the Ghana ESports Association.
