STEAMFest

STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

STEAMFest Ghana is a festival organised by PM STEAM Educational Center that aims to bring different organisations to showcase their activities related to STEAM and to help groom children’s logical thinking, problem-solving, experimentation and communication skills.

And according to the Founder and Director at PM STEAM Educational Center, Ohemaa Adjei Andoh, the maiden edition of the festival is also looking to involve parents who are usually left out of the education process.

“It’s [STEAM] a conversation between let’s say organisations in STEAM and students but you realise that the parents are also stakeholders when it comes to educating the kids so we have to make sure they understand what all this talk about STEAM is,” Ohemaa said in an exclusive interview with EAN

“I have also had people come to me [and ask] when you say STEAM what is it? What does it entail? Is it just the robotics? We want to show them that no it is not just robotics, it goes beyond robotics.”

STEAMFest kicks off March 26 from 9AM to 6PM at the W.E.B. DuBois Centre in Accra, Ghana. Tickets are available right here.
