Esports Kenya Federation (EKF) Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Joseph Bavon, has revealed that not only will Kenya be represented at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games but the country will claim victory in all events they compete in.

This comes following the announcement by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) that a Commonwealth Esports Championships (CEC) will be held independently at the Games to be held in Birmingham, England at the International Convention Centre from August 6-7, and Bavon in an exclusive interview with EAN stated that he has the best players ready to compete at the competition.

“I have the best players in any game out there. The funny thing about esports in Kenya is these guys play anything and everything. I usually say that if you want to launch a game, do it in Kenya you won’t lack someone taking an interest.”

The games set to be at the CEC have not yet been decided on but according to reports games that have already been featured at other global events may be included an example could be eight (8) games to be on show at the 2022 Asian Games.

The Asian Games are set to include games such as Arena of Valor, Dota 2, League of Legends, Dream Three Kingdoms 2 and HearthStone, games not usually played on the African continent. However, the Esports Kenya CEO has stated he has been developing teams for such games.

“Actually my national league we compete on League of Legends alongside Tekken, Mortal Kombat and FIFA.. I am also beginning to nature players of Dota 2.” Bavon said

Esports Kenya recently revealed plans to introduce esports to the Kenyan schools sports calendar as the Kenyan government looks to invest Ksh15 billion ($131,984,162) to aid in the country’s move to digital learning, and Esports Kenya CEO Joseph Bavon revealed that the federation is in discussion with the Kenyan Ministry Of Education.

“We are in discussion with the ministry of education to also introduce esports as part of the schools’ sport calendar.” Bavon said “Kenya is in the process of implementing e-learning and we are seeing an opportunity for us to include esports.”
