Algeria to rep Africa in DOTA 2 at Bali 2022
Algeria’s DOTA 2 team will represent Africa in the 14th International Esports Federation (IESF) World Esports Championships, which will be hosted in Bali, Indonesia from December 1 to 12.
The North Africans qualified for the global event by winning the IESF’s African Regional Championships on October 28 and 29. Algeria competed against some of Africa’s greatest nations to reach the finals of the IESF African Regional Championships, where they faced South Africa for the continent’s only spot in the IESF World Esports Championships.
Despite the fact that the South African DOTA 2 squad, led by Suhail Khan, fought hard and for every point in the final, the Algerian team proved to be a completely different task than South Africa’s semi-final opponent, Namibia.
They were unable to match the strength of their North African opponents and were defeated 3-0, allowing Algeria to win not only the gold medal but also a place in the 14th IESF World Esports Championships.
“Algeria WINS! They found their way to the Finals and will move on to BALI! Congrats! We’ll see you there!” Following the North Africans’ victory over South Africa and qualification for the 14th IESF World Esports Championships, the official IESF Twitter handle tweeted.
Suhail Khan, team captain, expressed his disappointment: “The Algerian team is a remarkable team. Their timing was perfect, and they proved to be the better team.” Suhail continued, “Team Esports South Africa salutes Team Algeria and wishes them all the best for IESF’s 14th World Championships to be held in Bali.”
