Co-founder of African esports media hub, Esports Africa News (EAN), Gabriel Atsu Sikanku, was present at UK-born Ghanaian driver Lewis Appiagyei’s debut race in The Praga Cup at Donington Park on Sunday, August 21.

Appiagyei, who recently announced his partnership with EAN, was making his Praga racing debut with Idola Motorsport alongside his teammate Ruben Stanislaus, driving the no.24 R1 with the backing of Adrian Flux Insurance.

The two rising motorsport stars impressed during the race, finishing in 5th, though they might be slightly disappointed, having at some point been challenging for the podium. However, they will be pleased to have been awarded Drivers of the Day for their impressive run in their debut race.

Speaking about the race, Gabriel Atsu Sikanku said, “It was exciting to be physically present at their inaugural race at Donington Park. Their composure and driving skills were very impressive.”

“Being in England is motivating. Thanks to Idola Motorsport for championing diversity, having these guys in the team and helping them progress in their chosen profession.”

Gabriel further spoke about his company, Esports Africa News’ (EAN), partnership with Appiagyei, stating that “It’s also important to note that Lewis is the face of sim racing esports across Africa and we will continue to push his brand in Ghana and across the continent.”

EAN announced their partnership with Lewis Appiagyei last week, with the company’s co-founder stating that they were looking forward to working with the 2014 Guinness World Record holder to further his ambitions.

“We would like to build a relationship where he champions and becomes the face of sim racing as a Ghanaian and African, inspiring the younger generation to get involved in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths).”
